No — dogs are not allowed
No dogs at Hanging Lake - and unusually, that includes the car park. The Forest Service's wording is 'No dogs or pets permitted. Animals may not be left in vehicles at the trailhead', so there is no version of this trip that works with a dog in tow: plan to leave them at home or with a sitter. Only ADA-trained service animals are permitted; emotional-support animals are not. Access is by timed reservation only, booked in advance, one per hiker, and you must arrive within 30 minutes either side of your slot. The trail sits in the Grizzly Creek burn scar and can close on short notice after heavy rain, so check status the morning you go. Nowhere on site. This is the one genuinely absolute ban of the five - it covers the trail, the Hanging Lake Rest Area, and the trailhead car park, where you may not even leave a dog in the vehicle. Only ADA-classified service animals are permitted; emotional-support animals are explicitly excluded.
