Jones Beach State Park

No — dogs are not allowed No dogs at Jones Beach State Park — year-round, beach and boardwalk alike. New York State Parks states the policy as "No Pets Allowed All Year Round". Unlike many northeast beaches, there is no off-season window here: the ban does not lift after Labor Day. Service animals as defined by the ADA are permitted. (Verified against parks.ny.gov, 17 Aug 2026. Note: bills to open state park beaches to dogs — A8462 / S8293 — were before the NY Legislature as of the 2025-26 session and had not been enacted; if you are reading this much later, re-check.) Where dogs ARE allowed

Nowhere in the park. The ban is explicitly year-round, so there is no off-season exception, and it is not beach-only — the boardwalk is covered both by the park's blanket 'No Pets Allowed' notice and by the statewide regulation's separate bar on 'improved walks or boardwalks'. Jones Beach does not appear in the Long Island region's 'Walking Your Dog in Long Island State Parks' guide, which lists every LI state park that has a designated dog-walking area (Amsterdam Beach, Belmont Lake, Bethpage, Brookhaven, Camp Hero, Heckscher, Hempstead Lake, Hither Hills, Montauk Point, Napeague, Shadmoor, Sunken Meadow, Wildwood). Only ADA service animals are exempt.
